Serpentine Drive Belt Replacement
What is the Serpentine Drive Belt and How Does it Work?
The serpentine drive belt is a continuous loop belt that snakes its way through and around your engine compartment to drive power to major engine parts, like the alternator, water pump, power steering pump and the air conditioner compressor. It doesn’t require any maintenance, except that it doesn’t last forever and needs periodic replacement. If the belt breaks, the vehicle will stop running. Replacing your serpentine drive belt when indicated by its condition will save you from being stranded by a broken belt.

How Often to Replace a Serpentine Drive Belt
If a visual inspection shows excessive cracks, dry rot and/or missing chunks, you should have the serpentine drive belt replaced.
