Radiator Services
What is the Radiator and How Does it Work?
The radiator is a sophisticated device that uses cooling liquid, called coolant or antifreeze, and air to manage the extreme heat of combustion engines. As your vehicle runs, the cooling system circulates coolant through the engine and radiator. Coolant is formulated to prevent corrosion inside the cooling system, and helps maintain optimal engine operating temperature regardless of outside conditions. In other words, the radiator keeps your vehicle from overheating in hot weather, and freezing up in bitter cold. Your radiator should be serviced regularly to keep this vital system working at its best.
Radiator Flush & Fill
During Grease Monkey’s Radiator Flush & Fill Service, we visually inspect the cooling system components and pressure-test the system to check for any leaks. During the flush and fill, rust, corrosion, and contaminated engine coolant are removed, and the cooling system is refilled with the appropriate ratio of water and coolant to protect against freezing, boil-over, and corrosion.
How Often to Perform a Radiator Flush & Fill
Grease Monkey recommends a Radiator Flush & Fill Service in accordance with your owner’s manual recommended service intervals. Your Grease Monkey technician will check your owner’s manual and let you know the proper Radiator Flush & Fill Service interval for your specific vehicle.
Radiator Cap Replacement
The radiator cap is an important and frequently overlooked component of your vehicle’s cooling system. As part of the Full Service Oil Change, your Grease Monkey technician will pressure-test your radiator cap. If the cap doesn’t hold the proper pressure, leaks will occur.
How Often to Replace Your Radiator Cap
If your radiator cap doesn’t hold the exact pressure specified, it should be replaced.
