Grease Monkey® Franchisee of the Year – Tyson Daniels

Denver, Colo., October 5, 2016 – Grease Monkey International, Inc. ­­Franchisee, Tyson Daniels was honored by the International Franchise Association with its Annual Franchisee of the Year Award.  The award winner is elected by their franchise company and is done so based on a number of qualifications, all of which have been exceeded by Daniels.

Daniels owns five Grease Monkey® centers in Idaho and has been a part of the Grease Monkey family since 2014. Ever since he became a Franchisee with Grease Monkey, Daniels has undeniably taken the Grease Monkey System of Operations to the highest level. All of his centers are Pit Crew Certified and have installed and adapted the Pit Crew Guarantee™.

Daniels continues to see sales increase at all of his centers, which can be attributed to his superior leadership skills and his dedication at each center. He has worked hard at building a strong team of employees who are all extraordinarily customer focused and Grease Monkey driven. Grease Monkey® Supports the Messner Foundation’s Fundraising Event

Greenwood Village, Colo., June 3, 2016 – Grease Monkey International, Inc. is pleased to support the Messner Foundation in its current fundraising event of raffling off a brand new 2016 Starwood Custom Jeep Wrangler. Proceeds from raffle tickets will go to the organization’s primary cause, which is to help underprivileged high school students with exemplary leadership skills go to college by funding them and pairing them to a mentor.

In support of the Messner Foundation, Grease Monkey® Support Center is raising awareness of the organization and its current raffle event. The raffle drawing will be held on June 11, 2016, 9 p.m. at Messner Reeves LLP 1430 Wynkoop Street, Denver, Colorado 80202. The Messner Foundation will be hosting a block party to accompany the excitement of the raffle. Grease Monkey® has included a digital banner with raffle details on its corporate website and social media pages.

The Messner Foundation seeks at-risk, underprivileged youth who have gone above and beyond their peers throughout their high school years. These students are full of potential. They have demonstrated skills such as leadership and entrepreneurialism, and they add value to their community—they are the potential leaders of their generation. However, their financial situation leaves them discouraged when thinking about college. The Messner Foundation funds scholarships and provides a mentor to qualifying high school seniors. Opportunities are Doubled in Phoenix, Arizona With The Opening of Its Second Grease Monkey® Center

Greenwood Village, Colo., March 29, 2016 – Grease Monkey International, Inc. is excited to announce the opening of a second center in Phoenix, Arizona. Grease Monkey® Phoenix #1055 opened its doors for business on March 9, 2016. The center was welcomed into the community with its grand opening party on March 25 and 26.

Present at the event were the Mobil 1 NASCAR simulator and Tony Stewart’s No.14 Mobil 1 Chevrolet, both of which were a hit with the crowd. There were also lots of giveaways, free food and refreshments, and exclusive grand opening discounts on oil changes as well as other services.  Throughout the weekend the center had the pleasure of servicing many vehicles and meeting many new citizens of the local community.   

Both of the centers in Phoenix are owned by brothers, Laurence and Scott Stinson. Their franchising journey with the Grease Monkey® brand began in September of 2015.  Within a few months of being in business, the Stinson brothers decided to expand their services by setting up a new location.

“We are excited about this new location providing convenient, quality vehicle preventive maintenance service to Phoenix and the surrounding area,” said Senior VP of Operations, Ralph Yarusso. “The great community response to the grand opening provides evidence consumers are looking for a maintenance center they can trust and that provides services quickly and affordably.”

Grand Opening Celebrations for Grease Monkey® Laredo #1004 Will Happen on March 4th- 6th of 2016 

Greenwood Village, Colo., March 3, 2016 – Grease Monkey International, Inc. is thrilled to announce the anticipated wait for our new center to open in Laredo, Texas is now over. The center, Grease Monkey® Laredo, officially opened for business on Leap Day, February, 29, 2016.  To commemorate its opening, the center will have its grand opening party on March 4th, 5th, and 6th of 2016, starting at 8 am on that Friday.

Grease Monkey® Franchisee Owner Awarded The National Oil & Lube News 2015 Operator Of The Year

Greenwood Village, Colo., January 11, 2016 – Grease Monkey International, Inc. congratulates its very own, Ron Morrow, a well-known and respected Grease Monkey® Franchisee, on being awarded the National Oil & Lube News 2015 Operator of the Year. 

Ron owned his first oil change store in 1994. As his interest in the industry continued to grow, so did the number of locations he owned.  By 2005, Ron owned eight stores, and as of 2015 he is a proud owner of 17 Grease Monkey® Franchises and six quick lube/car wash combination stores in Colorado, employing nearly 120 people throughout Colorado.  

A large part of Ron’s success comes from a combination of having outstanding business skills, keeping to his principles, and learning from his experiences.  Ron places a focus on increasing sales, but he would say his emphasis on building and maintaining outstanding relationships with his employees and vendors is what really drives the sales. The positive relationships he cultivates is crucial in creating the conducive work environments where his employees can excel.   

Since 2005, Ron has been the president of Grease Monkey’s International Franchisee Advisory Council (IFAC).  In 2013, his leadership in the IFAC led him to receive the annual Franchisee of the Year award from the International Franchise Association.

Ron continuously shows excellence in the industry as well as outside of it. He is actively involved in giving back to the community, especially when it concerns veterans or children. Ron is a big activist of raising money for K9 For Warriors, a non-profit organization that uses service dogs to help injured or traumatized veterans with their recovery. Grease Monkey International Inc. has embraced K9 For Warriors as its national charity since 2001. He also goes beyond the corporate-wide philanthropy efforts by involving his centers in other fundraisers, such as sponsoring the youth sports program at the Children’s Hospital.

Grease Monkey® Terre Haute Provides Funds for Noon Optimist Club Clothe-A-Child Program

Greenwood Village, Colo., December 23, 2015 – The Grease Monkey® center in Terre Haute, IN has been supporting the Noon Optimist Club’s Clothe-A-Child program for more than 10 years. The center has a donation jar in the lobby Welcome center. On average, the donation jar collects $1800 to $2000 in donation a year. In the Welcome Center refreshments are provided to customers, as they wait while their car is being serviced.

The funds raised in the donation jar are then donated to the Noon Optimist Club’s Clothe-A-Child program to help provide winter clothes for children in the Vigo county public school system, grades K – 6th.

The teachers recommend the children in need, and the members of the Noon Optimist Club then interview the children to determine what they need. This year’s event took place on December 12, 2015 and provided shirts, pants, socks, underclothes, hoodies, and jackets to more than 750 children in the county. The day is set up as a day of fun for the children, with a bag of clothes and goodies for each child, and even a visit from Santa.

When this fundraising project started, this Grease Monkey® center was owned by Franchisee Joe Misterka, who is the treasurer for the Noon Optimist Club. When Joe retired last year, Grease Monkey International, Inc. took over ownership and operation of the center, and has continued to support this annual fundraiser. Jason Sepich, Market Manager for the Terre Haute Grease Monkey® center said, “We really enjoy supporting this great cause for the kids through the Noon Optimist Club in Terre Haute.”

Grease Monkey® 2015 Pit Crew Challenge Winners - Parker #687

Greenwood Village, Colo., December 4, 2015 – Grease Monkey International, Inc. is pleased to announce the winners of its third annual Winners’ Circle Pit Crew Challenge. The National Championship was held on Sunday, October, 25 in Denver, Colorado.

The challenge is part of the Certified Pit Crew Program that Grease Monkey International developed to recognize the organization’s top performing technicians. In order for a Grease Monkey® location to become a Certified Pit Crew, the location must meet a strict set of criteria including top scores on the technician required certification courses and competitive time trials on the Full Service Oil Change.

Grease Monkey® Certified Pit Crews from across the country participated in the Area and Regional challenges held over the past few months.

“The Pit Crew Challenge has far exceeded our expectations. Our goal for this program was to recognize our technicians as heroes to our customers, and the concept has really taken off. The Pit Crew Challenge has made the technician job fun and competitive while at the same time raising their level of expertise across the board. The technicians are wearing their Certified Pit Crew uniforms with great pride,” said Grease Monkey International Senior Vice President, Operations & Business Development, Ralph Yarusso.

The National Champions of the Winners’ Circle Challenge received a cash prize, kindle, leather jackets, recognition patches on team member racing crew uniforms, individual trophies, and a travelling trophy to be displayed in the winning team’s location for one year. The Second Place winners received a cash prize and individual trophies. The checks and trophies were presented to the winners at the conclusion of the event, and a dinner was held that evening to recognize their accomplishments.

In the Western Region, Front Range area the National Champions achievement went to
Grease Monkey #687 in Parker, Colorado. The center is owned by Ron Morrow, with his pit crew technicians Jeff Christensen, James Davis, Ben Koehnen and Austin Yehl. The winner of the Rocky Mountain Area Champion was Grease Monkey #733 in Centennial, Colorado, owned by Jon Piper with pit crew technicians CJ Martinez, Anthony Martinez, Eric Maher, and Reyes Montano. In the Eastern Region, Midwest the Regional Champions status went to Grease Monkey #431 in Salisbury, MD. The center is owned by James Martin with his pit crew technicians Bryan Avery, Tyler Hasenei, Dylan Timmons and Jourdan Bump.

Grease Monkey® Franchisee Of The Year - Jim Cook

Greenwood Village, Colo., September 29, 2015 – As the owner of Center #200 in Mt. Prospect, IL, #201 in Mundelein, IL and #202 in Waukegan, IL, Jim remains a well-respected leader in the LubePro’s group. His characteristics and great attitude are true assets to Grease Monkey® and were happy to have him as a part of our organization.

Jim is a member of the IFAC, and continues to seek ways to improve our industry. He has completed the conversion of three LubePro’s, investing a great deal of time and money to join the Grease Monkey® Team.

Jim is a huge influence with other LubePro’s franchisees, assisting with the rebranding effort in Chicago. Jim’s centers are Pit Crew Certified and his managers have all attended the Grease Monkey® Advanced Managers Course.

Grease Monkey International Supports K9s For Warriors In Summer Of 2015

Greenwood Village, Colo., June 19, 2015 – Grease Monkey International, Inc. is supporting K9s For Warriors during 3rd Quarter of 2015. Participating Grease Monkey® centers will be contributing and collecting donations throughout July, August, and September. In 2014 Grease Monkey collected over $75,000 for the organization.

K9s For Warriors is dedicated to providing service canines to warriors suffering from Post-traumatic Stress Disability, traumatic brain injury and/or military sexual trauma as a result of military service post 9/11. Our goal is to empower them to return to civilian life with dignity and independence.

Grease Monkey® Senior Vice President Earns Franchise Executive Certification

Greenwood Village, Colo., March 4, 2015 – Grease Monkey International, Inc. is pleased to announce that it’s Senior Vice President of Operations and Business Development, Ralph Yarusso, has been recognized as a Certified Franchise Executive by the Institute of Certified Franchise Executives.

Mr. Yarusso completed a comprehensive course of study in franchise management offered by the institute, which is the academic branch of the International Franchise Association’s Educational Foundation. IFA is the world’s oldest and largest organization representing franchising worldwide and honored this year’s designees during its annual convention in Las Vegas, NV.

This recognition is one of many Mr. Yarusso has earned over the past several decades. His desire to be a leader began as a former Air Force Air Crew Member on the C141 with over 3000+ hours of flight time experience.  As a multi-unit Meineke Franchisee he was named IFA and Meineke Franchisee of the Year.  He was also first in his region to attain the “million dollar center” sales mark, Franchisee Forum Member/Director for the IFA, Chairman of the Meineke National Council / FAC and twice voted as President of the Meineke Dealers Association, to name only a few.  Mr. Yarusso also was a member of the Driven Brands Sr. Executive team as RVP/COO prior to joining Grease Monkey International. Attaining his CFE is a clear example of Mr. Yarusso’s continued dedication and belief in franchising both as a Franchisee and now Franchisor. 

Nearly 1,800 franchise executives are currently enrolled or have received certification.  More than 300 IFA-member companies currently have one or more executives enrolled in the program that provides benefits such as specialized knowledge, industry recognition, peer-level networking and professional standing.

Grease Monkey International Recognizes Top Performing Technicians In Second Annual National Pit Cew Challenge

Greenwood Village, Colo., November 13, 2014 – Grease Monkey International, Inc. conducted its 2nd Annual National Pit Crew Challenge on Sunday, Oct. 12 at Grease Monkey® Center #649 in Castle Rock, Colo.

The challenge is part of the Certified Pit Crew Program that Grease Monkey International developed to recognize the organization’s top performing technicians. In order for a Grease Monkey® location to become a Certified Pit Crew, the location must meet a strict set of criteria including top scores on the technician required certification courses and competitive time trials on the Full Service Oil Change. Locations that become certified are eligible to participate in the annual Winners’ Circle Challenge, which consists of Area, Regional and National competitions.

The National Champions, Pit Crew #739 from Fairmont, West Virginia completed their Full Service Oil Change with the fastest time. The crew received a cash prize, leather jackets, recognition patches on team member racing crew uniforms, individual trophies, and a travelling trophy to be displayed in the winning team’s location for one year. The center is owned by franchisee Gary Kelley.

Pit Crew #687, owned by Ron Morrow, were the returning champions from Parker, Colorado. The crew finished in second place this year and received a cash prize and individual trophies.

The checks and trophies were presented to the winners at the conclusion of the event. The winning team from Fairmont was escorted by limousine to a championship party after the competition. Championship highlights video can be found on YouTube.

Front Range Grease Monkey® Locations Donate To National Breast Cancer Foundation

Greenwood Village, Colo., December 23, 2013 – Grease Monkey™ locations across the Denver Metro area will donate over $5,000 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation this month. During the month of October, 57 locations along the Front Range sold windshield wiper blades, some of which included a pink breast cancer awareness ribbon logo. During that month, Grease Monkey® centers collected $1 for each wiper blade sold.

Grease Monkey International has been a supporter of the National Breast Cancer Foundation for 1 year, and plans to continue its support of the organization next year.

Grease Monkey International Recognizes Outstanding Franchisees At Annual Conference

Greenwood Village, Colo., October 28, 2013 – Grease Monkey International, Inc. announced top franchisee award winners for outstanding performance in the prior year at its 2013 Annual Conference held in Oak Brook, Illinois in October. The winners were recognized in front of their peers for outstanding performance in center marketing and operations.

Grease Monkey International Acquires 30-Store LubePro's Chain

Greenwood Village, Colo., September 3, 2013 – Colorado-based Grease Monkey International, Inc. (GMI) announced today that through its affiliates, it acquired the assets and franchise contracts of LubePro’s International, Inc., a 30-store chain of fast lubrication and automotive maintenance centers located in Illinois, Minnesota, Tennessee and Wisconsin. Of the 30 stores, 16 will be converted to the Grease Monkey® brand and operated by an affiliate of GMI. The franchise owners at the remaining 14 LubePro’s™ locations have been offered the opportunity to convert to Grease Monkey™ branded centers. GMI expects to complete the rebranding of the centers converting to the Grease Monkey® brand by mid-November.

“The purchase of the successful LubePro’s™ chain is an exciting opportunity for Grease Monkey International to build the presence of the Grease Monkey® brand in the Midwestern part of the United States,” says John B.
